Poultry farming is of importance to farmes and the general populace. It is  a fast-growing and thriving agricultural business that has provided job opportunities and has boosted the economy. Poultry production thrives in Nigeria due to the affordability, availability, and fast-growing rate of poultry birds. However, the increased demand and production of poultry for meat and eggs comes with the challenge on proper waste disposal, management, and control. To curb this challenge, poultry waste is used as manure by farmers as an organic fertilizer to enrich the soil and for increase in agricultural productivity.

Poultry manure is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, making it a more suitable nutrient source for plant growth. Chicken manure contains 0.9% nitrogen, 1.7% potassium, 0.5% phosphorus, and other trace elements, thus making it suitable for plant growth.
